The Godfather of Paintball
BY:”GEORGIA” JOE HAMILTON

The year is 1946 and the place is New York City. For Years the Korleone Family has been head of all the crime families of New York City, and a fine line of peace and prosperity has smiled on all the families of New York. The Godfather has watched over all business in New York for 30 years and time is finally catching up with him. In a bold announcement the Godfather tells the families that he intends to move the Korleone family to Las Vegas, Nevada in order to start a new business. He has been searching for a family with the strength to become the new “Don” of New York. This family would act in the best interests of the Korleone family and would only answer to the godfather himself. He has narrowed his choices down to two families, the Tattaglia and the Barzini family. The godfather has decided to call a meeting of the families to disperse new territories and appoint a new “Don” over New York City. Join us on December 15th and 16th at the meeting of the families at Camp Blanding in Starke Florida at Billy’s Blanding Bash. Choose your family and prepare to do battle to become the new “Don”.

Our friend Dale Ford at 68caliber.com sent us a link to a story he wrote after attending a recent Viper game at the Blanding MOUT facility.  Excellent story about an excellent game.  It may help some of you who have never attended a MOUT game.  Read it, check it out here.

Here's a little camping and lodging info sent in by 'Hollywood'

For those that are military (active, guard, reserve, retired, ROTC cadets, military academy cadets), lodging is available at Camp Blanding main post, about 22 miles from the MOUT site, at the post lodging facility. (Dependents and civilians are authorized with a military sponsor.)  Rooms are all one double bed, so a husband and wife could do with one room.  Other than that, it's one person per room, unless they are young brothers and sisters, or are really, really good friends.  The cost is around $22 a night, and reservations may be made Monday thru Friday, between 0900 and 1700 (9 AM-5 PM) at (904) 682-3381.

For those that are not military or militarily connected, camping will be available at no cost on site. The drawback, is that they lock the gate to the outside world around midnight, and don't open it back up again until the next morning. Campsites will leave nothing more than a shoeprint behind upon leaving Sunday.

About a quarter mile northeast on SR 21, on the opposite side of the road, is the Gold Head Branch State Park. They have cabins that sleep eight, but they get scarfed up pretty quick, and by today (21 August), they are probably all reserved for the weekend of 15-16 December.  They also have RV and tent camping available at a nominal cost, and you can get in and out of the park after midnight.  Hot showers are also available at the park, but not at the MOUT site camping area.

But for those that demand the comforts of a hotel, there are a couple of small "Mom and Pop" hotels in Keystone Heights, about 6-7 miles from the site, and chain hotels (Holiday Inn Express; Best Western) 20-22 miles away in Starke.
